PV Panel Testing

• Thermal imaging of all photovoltaic panels of the installation.
• Sample testing of the electrical values of the panels that show NO problems in thermography. In detail we carry out:
  1. Insulation resistance measurement, open-circuit voltage & short-circuit current measurement (Voc/Isc), measurement & plotting of the current/voltage (I/V) & power/voltage (P/V) curves.
  2. Determination of the actual efficiency of the PV modules.
• FULL testing of the electrical values of the panels that DO SHOW problems in thermography.
• Thermal imaging of the whole installation and a Thermographic Data Report.
• Testing and maintenance of the PV modules, including insulation resistance, Voc/Isc, I/V curve and module efficiency.

• Visible corrosion on the ribbons and insulation of the cell contacts due to overheating of the PV modules.
• Visible damage to the EVA encapsulation with a simultaneous drop in module efficiency.
• Bypass diode failure. Change of the I/V curve.
• Hot Spot phenomenon on a PV module. Change of the I/V curve.

• A digital file with all thermographic results of the panels, together with photographs.
• Digital and printed copies of the measured electrical characteristics of your panels, showing their performance at the time of measurement and the DEVIATION from the manufacturer's rated performance.
• Digital and printed copies of all thermal images, photographs and electrical measurements of the panels that showed problems.
• A REPORT of the thermographic data and conclusions on the actual operating condition of your panels.

Early preventive testing of PV panels for Potential Induced Degradation (PID) is extremely important, so that the necessary actions can be taken to restore the panels to their original performance. If the loss of performance due to PID exceeds 30%, restoring the panels becomes IMPOSSIBLE.
